Japanese Lantern Workshop

Create a one-of-a-kind ceramic lantern in this relaxing and creative handbuilding workshop at Glotfelty Pottery. Inspired by traditional Japanese garden lanterns, this class guides students step-by-step through building a functional and decorative lantern designed to glow beautifully indoors or outdoors.

This project is challenging enough to feel rewarding, yet approachable for beginners with no prior clay experience. Whether you come with friends, family, or for a creative date night, our instructors will guide you through the entire process in a welcoming and encouraging studio environment.

Students will learn slab-building techniques, shaping, surface texture, cut-out design, and lid construction while creating a lantern that reflects their own personal style. Once completed, your piece will be professionally fired and finished in one of Glotfelty Pottery's glaze selections, creating a durable heirloom-quality work of art.
